The Dolphin
About This Spot
Stepping into The Dolphin on Leighton Road feels like settling into a much-loved local tucked just at the edge of Milton Keynes, where the bustle of the week softens into a comforting, unhurried evening. The pub’s recent refresh has brought a warm, inviting touch to its interior—the kind of place where the hum of friendly chatter blends effortlessly with the clink of glasses and the subtle background of well-chosen music.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, perfect for gathering with family or meeting friends for a casual midweek dinner. Outside, the patio offers a quiet moment to sip a drink as the light fades, while inside the dining room’s thoughtful layout encourages easy conversation and a sense of shared space. It’s clear this is a spot where the pace lounges comfortably, encouraging guests to settle in and savor their time.
Food at The Dolphin feels like a reflection of this easy warmth. The kitchen takes familiar pub favorites and elevates them with attentive care—whether it’s a generous Sunday roast where meats are roasted with evident skill, or more indulgent evenings marked by hearty, satisfying dishes like steak and cheese pie or the sharing roast platter that feels designed to bring people together. Compliments to the attentive staff highlight how much care goes into the service side, making each visit feel personal rather than hurried.
Drinks here follow the same thoughtful rhythm, with a well-curated selection of beers and coffees that invite lingering over conversation. The balance of fresh, seasonal plates alongside comforting classics ensures that regulars keep coming back, drawn by the reliable quality that never overshadows the welcoming atmosphere.
All told, The Dolphin is a quietly confident spot where community thrives and moments stretch just a little longer. It’s not a flashy destination, but a reliably warm embrace at the end of the day — a place where meals and memories soften into something you’ll want to return to again and again.

Family sunday lunch still the best for miles around., Serving platter a must for 2 . 3 meats plus all the trimmings incl. cauli cheese and pigs. Roast potatoes a bit hard in the middle but this is very common as I have eaten out on sundays at 5 diff. pubs in the last 8 weeks and all the same. Still this pub tops the chart on the 5 venues and still my favourite. Rod

We went to this place for a Sunday roast. By god it was amazing. My dinner had pork, beef and lamb. The pork and beef were some the best roasted meats I’ve ever had. 10/10 will certainly go again

Had a fantastic family meal on Christmas Eve. Fabulous food, attentive staff and lovely feel to the pub. We visit throughout the year but this was the first time having the Festive Menu. I can’t recommend The Dolphin enough but please don’t take all the spaces for next year, as we’d like to book Christmas again!

Know about this locally well regarded place for a while so was good to get there for a midweek dinner. Sat out on the nice patio for a drink before moving in for dinner. The service and atmosphere was good, the staff were a little pushed but that's only because it was busy for a Wednesday which was good to see. We all had starters which were tasty and well presented, including the stake tartar and beetroot stack. The kids menu had some good main course options rather than the usual chicken nuggets or pizza so nice to see a small steak as an option. Main courses were also good, the lamb kebabs were a real plateful! My only issue, and hence the 3 stars for food was the fish burger which on the menu was listed as 'Sea bream fillet in cajun spice mix'. I was expecting a fillet coated in spice mix (either grilled or fried) but there was no evident spice mix. I did raise this with the waitress who checked with the kitchen, apparently it was proving too spicy so the cajun spice is mixed with the mayo instead which then forms part of the burger. Don't have a problem with that but they should update the menu if possible or at least inform people on order. Having said that, it was a tasty dish and the Greek salad I forgot to order came out super quick. Overall, it was a nice dining experience and we all enjoyed the food. It was a touch on the noisy side, mainly due to the acoustics of the small dining area, so we took dessert outside as the elderly parents were struggling a bit! Would we return and recommend to others, it's a 'yes' from us as we now know what this place is so popular!

Recently refurbished and beautifully decorated dining room within the pub. Food was awesome, steak and cheese pie was particularly memorable - delicious. In fact all the food was amazing. Service was super friendly. The young lady serving was really happy to engage with us, and the whole experience was just perfect. Definitely going again soon.

Came for a birthday meal with my husband , but found the restaurant area very noisy as nearly full. I appreciate the modern idea of an open plan but personally found this too much Made up by the amazing food, beautifully presented, prompt and hot. Lovely team , nothing too much trouble and very calm.

Nice food, tables available, friendly attentive staff. Not too busy, not too loud, plenty of parking spaces, plenty out door seating.
